      Addressing Sexual Violence in Health Professions: Bill 21 and Responding to Disclosures

      This workshop is designed to increase individual and institutional capacity to support people who have experienced sexual violence. Participants will learn how to respond to disclosures of sexual abuse and assault, and develop a better understanding of the issue of sexual violence. This session is tailored specifically to health professionals regulated under the Health Professions Act. It covers the following information: Overview of SACE services Defining sexual violence: An overview of Canadian Sexual Assault, Sexual Harrassment, and Consent Law Exploring sexual assault myths and their impacts Understanding responses to trauma and impacts of sexual violence Responding to disclosures Providing support and referrals Light refreshments and coffee/tea will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own bag lunches to eat during the session.
