      Public Engagement for Decision-makers Course

      Emerge Solutions has partnered with International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) licensed trainer, Amanda Mitchell to offer the IAP2 Public Engagement for Decision-makers course in Edmonton on October 18, 2019. IAP2 is recognized is the professional association for public engagement practitioners. Its mission is to provide tools, skills and training opportunities to enhance organizations’ understanding and practice of public engagement. The IAP2 Public Engagement for Decision-makers workshop will examine the foundations of public engagement from the decision-maker’s perspective and offer insights on how public engagement supports decision-making.  The workshop is designed to support elected officials and municipal staff who: Have a role to play in deciding when and why public engagement will support project decisions. Are looking for ways to maximize the municipality’s success with public engagement while minimizing risk. Want to be sure they are getting what they need and want from their public engagement policy. Want to learn how to avoid common pitfalls of public engagement. This is a one-day hands-on workshop with IAP2 Licensed Foundations Trainer Amanda Mitchell who brings considerable subject matter expertise in: Aligning public engagement with decision-making Developing and implementing public engagement to effectively involve the public in decision-making Actioning public engagement strategies and plans Risk assessment and management Evaluating public engagement Workshop participants will receive resources to guide implementation of their public engagement policy.
