      Vascular Health Day 2019 Ticket Sales End Sept 15th

      The Northern Alberta Vascular Centre (NAVC) invites you to a robust education day filled with a variety of vascular related topics sponsored by the Covenant Foundation. These sessions are designed to bring awareness to vascular health, nutrition, disease prevention, cutting edge surgery and wound care. Relevant audiences are health care providers in both acute care and primary care. We look forward to seeing you! Presenters 1.       Christiana Dizon, Registered Dietician Canada’s Food Guide: Applying it to Vascular Health A walk through an overview of the new Canada’s Food Guide, highlighting components especially relevant to vascular health.   2.       Matthew Whittington, Physical Therapist Christine Chan, Physical Therapist Exercise and Vascular Health Looking at how different types of exercise impact vascular health, what current research recommends for parameters around exercise and vascular health, and recommendations for incorporating these exercises into daily life.   3.       Dr Gerrit Winkelaar, MD MSc Associate Clinical Professor and Divisional Director, Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Alberta, Head, Section of Vascular Surgery, Edmonton Zone, Alberta Health Services Emerging Trends in Vascular Surgery - New Approaches to the Treatment of Juxtarenal Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Not every abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) can be treated with standard endovascular stents. In this talk, newer innovations such as endolumenal anchors and fenestrated stent grafts will be reviewed to demonstrate how this field is evolving to expand the role of endovascular therapy for AAA.   4.       Dr Laura Davis, MD, Clinical Lecturer, Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Alberta Peripheral Artery Disease - A Community Practice Primer Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a prevalent disease process in the Canadian population. In this talk, the clinical manifestations and risk factors will be reviewed in addition to indications for medical management, imaging and intervention.   5.       Dr Karim Alibhai, MD, FRCSC, RPVI Open Thoracoabdominal Aneurysm Repair Case Study – Role of open repair in current endovascular era   6.       Dr Greg Hrynchyshyn Diabetes and Vascular Health.
